This pretty little chatelaine is a project that I did for Suzanne Cooper's book 'Then & Again.'
This was my first time entering the State Fair competition (1998) and I was so pleased to win the Third Prize ribbon and the huge $2.00 check that came with it. LOL
I still have that check! I plan on framing the chatelaine, matching bracelet, ribbon and the check... someday...
The Minnesota State Fair, otherwise known as the Great Minnesota Get Together, runs the last week, or so, of August through Labor Dabor Day and heralds the end of summer.
Covering 360 acres and offering over 500 kinds of food (much of them on a stick), the Fair offers something for everyone, no matter what their interests.

The second time I entered a piece at the Fair (2000) was with this fun jungle animal necklace that I made for Charlene Hughes' second book, 'Beadin' with Beady Boop, Volumn 2.'
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the blue ribbon attached! This time the prize was $6.00. I did cash that check... ;o)
This year, the Upper Midwest Bead Society (UMBS) also contributed funds towards prizes, so I won $25.00 from them and a year's paid membership to the Society.
